Mantras for Lucid Dreaming
Track 16 · Gate IVThe Thin Hour

Velvet Dark

Only the unreal dissolves

—:——:—

The mantra

Om Krīṃ Kālikāyai Namaha

What it means

I bow to Kali, the power of time and the dissolution of time.

Source: Traditional bija mantra of the Dark Mother

Why this one, at this hour

The thin hour is when time itself grows thin — and Kali is the one who thins it. Met at this depth she is not fearsome; she is the Mother whose darkness is velvet, who dissolves only what was never real. In the Nine Paths saga it was at this hour that Aurora crossed. The dreamer meets the dissolving and is not dissolved. That is the entire teaching of the lucid state.

How to use it tonight

Lie down. Play it once at low volume, close enough to hear the words without straining. Say the mantra silently with the voice for as long as it is easy, then let it say itself. When the whispered line comes, do not repeat it — let it be planted. The album runs in order across the night; if you fall asleep before the end, that is the intended outcome.

Only the unreal dissolves
