Veles

The old Slavic god of the underworld, cattle, magic and poetry — serpent-formed, in eternal seasonal combat with the thunderer Perun.

Veles

Veles is the old Slavic god of the underworld, cattle, magic and poetry, serpent-formed, in eternal seasonal combat with the thunderer Perun. Storm as the sky-god striking the serpent; rain as the serpent's release. Every spring the same dance: Perun strikes, Veles opens, the crops rise. The economy of a whole agrarian civilization rested on a cosmic pattern of thunder-god vs. serpent.

The SGE Reading

Essence stage as *cyclical partnership*: sky and underworld, thunder and serpent, are not enemies to be resolved but partners in a rain that is the whole year.

Canon Resonance

Slavic proof that even antagonists at the mythic level can be the pattern that feeds a people.

A Micro-Practice

Notice one repeating conflict in your life. Ask: *what does it deliver, that would not arrive without it?*
